Koukou Debut - Live-Action Movie!

In August, it was announced that Kazune Kawahara's manga "Koukou Debut" ("High School Debut") is being turned into a live-action film. Now, the main cast members have been revealed: Junpei Mizobata (21) will co-star with fashion model Ito Ono (15), who is making her acting debut with this movie.

Ono will be playing the manga's protagonist, a young girl who was completely absorbed in her club activities, but decides to change her image and her love life upon entering high school. Mizobata will play the upperclassman that becomes her coach and eventual love interest.

Tsutomu Hanabusa is directing the film, which is scheduled for release in spring 2011.

Am I excited about this? Er... I'm not sure. The cast is a little... eh.

Okay, I just realized this isn't a review, but still...

Chronicles of Narnia

I have read all the Narnia books and I have to say it is very beautiful. I even recommended these books to my sister. ^_^ She doesn't like Prince Caspian so it took a lot of urging to get her a bit excited about it.

I have divulged to her some spoilers from the 7 books, but I don't like spoilers and I don't want to spoil your excitement. hehe. But, a few months after reading the books, I could still feel that awe when I think about the story. Remember the professor who owned the manor where the children lived? He acted a little weird right? Well, he is linked to Narnia too! He knows Narnia, in more ways than you could ever imagine! And Jadis the witch? (from the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe) She has met the professor too. And when they first met, it wasn't in Narnia.

Okay, I'm already giving spoilers when I said I wouldn't. But these books just get me so excited. If you like fantasy fiction, like Harry Potter or Twilight, then you'd surely love this one. Though I think this is more on the line with Lord of the Rings, a higher form of fantasy, because it has that serious feel to it, and the setting is of another world which co-existed with ours. Harry and Twilight's setting is just in this world but hidden from mere mortals.

If you have read Narnia and loved it, the third movie will be released this December. I wonder why I haven't heard about it. There wasn't much fuss like in Harry Potter and Twilight. :( I just found out after I searched for pictures to use in this post.

So, movie's coming up. I'm so giddy!

Koizora

Okay, I know this movie has been around for years, but I just recently watched this. And mind you, I watched this without subtitles. Blame the Nihongo Club.

Koizora: Setsunai Koi Monogatari (恋空―切ナイ恋物語, Koizora: Setsunai Koi Monogatari, lit. "Love Sky: A Sad Love Story"?), or Koizora, really holds up to its name. This is one of those "they're young and in love but one is dying" movies. Oops. Yup, that was a spoiler right there. But then again, I could count a number of movies with the same predicament that I wouldn't bother apologizing for that little slip.

The plot, for me, was like a fanfiction - full of happenings at each turn, and I wondered if it could really be possible in real life. But then, I practically don't have a life, so I'm not the one to talk.

Acting? Quite good, for such a young cast. And don't get me started on how my friend swooned over the guy. I say no to the white hair, that is all.

Watch this. See your friends cry. Laugh at them.

Kidding.
Well, yeah, this is what I did.

*Calling Onee-chan for duty. It's your turn now.

Koukou Debut

This is definitely one of my favorite mangas - and it's already completed! Light and hilarious, it never fails to crack me up! Both leading characters are well personified and the graphics isn't messy (although the lines below the eyes are kind of distracting). Others may find it dragging in the middle, but i don't really care! I had a lot of laughs every volume - every chapter of this manga!

Kawahara kazune's already doing the drafts for a sequel and I'm hoping it will be out sooner than later.

Il Mare

Another romantic film from korean actress Jun Ji-Hyun (My Sassy Girl, Windstruck) which tells a story of two people of different timelines who somehow got connected through a mailbox. The pace of the story is slow, making the movie light and mellow. The ending was a little confusing though.

A remake was done in 2006 by Warner Brothers with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves titled 'The Lake House'.
